October 2024
JD Edwards Release 25 drives innovation by automating, optimizing, and transforming business processes, reflecting ORACLE's continued investment in its customers' digital transformation.
The following are the most important technological innovations, which are divided into 3 categories to organize them:
What are the upgrades?
1.1 Server Manager - Performance Workbench
This enhancement adds the Performance Workbench within the JDE EnterpriseOne Server Manager administration console interface. Performance Workbench allows you to analyse the content of the application logs to detect errors or incidents. With this enhancement, it is no longer necessary to perform the process locally.
1.2 Server Manager - Developer Foundation and Interface
This functionality allows Developers to access logs and traces available from the Server Manager console. They can autonomously modify the log level and access, share, etc. centrally. New APIs have also been developed to access logs directly from the development client.
1.3 Development Client Simplification - HTML Server
This enhancement eliminates the need to install a Weblogic Server + Web Local on the Thick Client, decreasing the resources required for the installation of the Thick Client.
1.4 JD Edwards Update Manager: Custom Multi-Platform Deliverable
This enhancement allows you to use the capabilities of the Configuration Wizard to create cross-platform custom packages containing a combination of OMW projects, specification-based objects, user-defined objects (UDOs) and datasets. They also have the ability to apply those packages through the JD Edwards Update Manager/Web Software Updates and Change Assistant application, with or without a Deployment Server.
1.5 JD Edwards Update Manager: Planner ESU Web
This improvement allows to install the ESU Planner from Web environment, without using the Deployment Server.
1.6 JD Edwards Update Manager: Reset Merges of Updates
This enhancement allows to easily reapply Merges on objects included in a JDE update package.
1.7 Optimized Full Package Build Performance
This enhancement optimises the compilation time of Full Packages by detecting and only compiling BSFNs that have been modified with respect to the previous active Full Package.
1.8 Package Deployment Through Orchestration
This enhancement allows you to deploy update packages from the Orchestrator. Previously only the compilation of packages was allowed.
1.9 Update Package: Parent Package default in Package Definition
This improvement affects the creation of update packages. The definition process automatically selects the currently deployed Full package avoiding errors and simplifying the process.
1.10 UDO Altering
The User Defined Object (UDO) management has been modified to allow users to rename and change the system/product code at any time for any UDO.
1.11 Real-Time Access to Media Objects Stored in External File Store
This enhancement allows viewing media objects in the attachment viewer without the need to run a UBE to transfer media objects from the file system to the database.
2.1 Platform Certifications
This tools release includes the following platform certifications:
- Oracle Analytics Server 24
- Microsoft Windows SDK 10.0.22621
- IBM WebSphere Application Server 9.0.5.20
- IBM Open XL C/C++ 17.1.1 for AIX
- Microsoft Edge Chromium 128
- Google Chrome 128
The upgrade of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to Tool Release 25 introduces a significant set of enhancements aimed at process optimization, real-time data access and work environment customization. These new features not only increase operational efficiency, but also provide companies with greater flexibility to tailor their systems to specific business needs.
3.1 Enterprise Process Modeler
The Enterprise Process Modeler is presented as a fundamental tool for the design and automation of business processes. It facilitates the definition of key metrics and enables real-time visualization of how processes are running. This enhancement is crucial for companies looking to continuously monitor and adjust processes that are essential to their daily operations, ensuring optimal performance and more efficient resource management.
3.2 Return of System Values in Orchestration Outputs
With this new functionality, system data such as environment, user ID and orchestration name can be incorporated into the generated outputs. This not only extends the customization capabilities of orchestrations, but also improves real-time control and tracking of workflows, which is essential for agile operations management.
3.3 Invoking Orchestrations from Form Exits and Row Exits
This enhancement facilitates the extension of the JD Edwards framework, allowing to invoke orchestrations directly from the output options of forms and rows. This gives greater versatility to the system, allowing the execution of automated processes without the need to customize the applications, reducing both costs and implementation times.
3.4 Incorporation of Criteria Lists in Orchestration Rules
A key functionality added to Orchestrator Studio is the ability to handle lists of values as variables within orchestration rules. This capability allows automated decisions to be more accurate and adaptive by using multiple criteria simultaneously, increasing the efficiency of automated processes and improving decision making.
3.5 Text and Images on EnterpriseOne Pages
Enhancements to EnterpriseOne pages now allow the addition of text and image tiles. This facilitates deeper customization of interfaces, improving not only visual presentation, but also usability and user experience by allowing quick access to critical information within the system.
3.6 Enhanced Data Access Driver for Multiple Environments
This enhancement introduces the ability to connect and consolidate data from multiple environments into a single data model. This is particularly useful for organizations that operate in different locations or that need unified analysis of data from multiple sources. The integration of a single data model simplifies the analysis process and improves the accuracy of information used for decision making.
