RELEASE 24 Technical Improvements

Oracle JD Edwards continues simplifying maintenance and the application update processes by focusing on the Web Client interface and decentralizing the Deployment Server. The new functionalities added in Tools Release 24 are the following.

1.1 JDE Update Manager – Applications Update (UN) Support Through Web Client

This new enhancement allows customers to install, analyze, and deploy an annual cumulative patch, Application Software Update (ASU), from the Web Client interface.

1.2 JDE Update Manager – Batch Update Through Web Client

New enhancement that enables deploying multiple Electronic Software Update (ESU) patches simultaneously from the Web Client interface.

1.3 JDE Update Manager – Impact Analysis Dashboard

New enhancement that allows customers to perform the Impact Analysis of an ASU/ESU across the Web Client interface.

1.4 JDE Update Manager – Webify UDC & Glossary Compare/Merge Utility

Enhancing the simplicity of the application update procedure, a web utility is integrated into the special instruction evaluation application. This empowers customers to compare the current UDC values and Data Dictionary Glossary text against the proposed modifications included in the update. The web utility seamlessly uploads the special instruction metadata for the initial evaluation and facilitates visual comparison and tracking of each change. As the utility operates through a Web Client, it enables the automated execution of the special instruction update.

1.5 Tools Rollup ESU Automated Special Instructions Replacement for Web Deployment

New enhancement that allows the installation of the Automated Tools Release Configuration (ATRC) using the Web Client interface. ATRC emulates Automated Special Instructions (ASI) processes executed from the Deployment Server necessary when updating the Tools. The process can also be automated through the Orchestrator.

1.6 Server Manager – Centralized Configuration for Enterprise and Integration Servers

The new Server Manager feature allows a centralized configuration of all JDE components, including the Enterprise Servers, Business Services Servers (BSSV) and Real-Time Events (RTE) Servers components. This enhancement allows defining a default configuration in the new components, avoiding the effort of manually configuring each instance.

1.7 Web OMW - Business View Design Tool

The Business View Design Tool included in this Tools version provides developers and business analysts to examine and define Business Views on one or more tables using the Web Client interface. It also allows extracting and returning modifications interactively.

1.8 Web OMW - Object Promote to Package

With this new feature, customers can directly promote objects and OMW projects to a “live” active package for the assigned pathcode without the need for a package build and deployment. This functionality is only available for the primary specification objects, Applications, Reports, Versions, Business Views, Data Structures, Data Dictionary, and UDCs through the Web OMW.

1.9 Simplified Management of User Logging

Improvement that allows centralized log activation without the need to do it in each instance individually. This simplifies the collection of user logs from multiple instances for debugging, which saves a lot of time and effort.

2.1 Server Manager REST API for TLS Configuration Automation

New functionality in Server Manager that allows configuring TLS communication between the console and the agents across REST API.

2.2 Support for LDAP Over SSL Using 2048-bit Certificate

Enhanced security in the integration of JDE with LDAP by now allowing communication over SSL with 2048-bit.

3.1 Support for Automatic and Manual Scaling for Autonomous Database

Enabled support for automatic scaling or manual scaling using Autonomous Database with JD Edwards.

The Workflow Monitor provides a modernized update to the traditional EnterpriseOne Workflow Process Monitor application. At a glance, administrators and authorized process owners can get confirmation that processes are running smoothly or early awareness of workflow process issues.

4.2 Task Tracking

This feature enables users to set due dates for tasks that are assigned to recipients through orchestration and notification messages. The recipients can then update the status of those tasks, for example "Approved," "In Process," or "Complete." The status updates are written to a table so users can monitor the progress and perform historical analysis.

4.3 Notification Reminders

The Notification Reminders feature enhances EnterpriseOne notifications by enabling users to easily set reminders for important tasks or assignments. Users can assign follow-up dates to notification messages and easily view and sort the messages in the My Worklist application. This feature enables users to keep track of time-sensitive priorities.

4.4 Output Stream Access for Orchestrations

This feature enables the Orchestrator Report step to generate Output Stream Access (OSA) output. Using Orchestrator and the EnterpriseOne batch engine together, customers have a wide array of capabilities for automating processes and generating custom-formatted output using OSA.

4.5 User-Defined Delimiter for Orchestrator Output to CSV

This feature enables users to specify a separator character other than a comma when outputting data to a CSV file in an orchestration.

4.6 Prebuilt Workflow Data Structures

This feature simplifies the process of creating new workflows by providing a set of prebuilt data structures that are suitable for a wide variety of workflows. Instead of creating new data structures for each workflow, designers can simply choose to use these prebuilt data structures and entirely avoid the process of creating and deploying them.
The feature also delivers a generic workflow approval process that designers can copy and modify for their own scenarios, and a generic message template.
Using these preconfigured components designers can get a quick start on building workflows.
